2013-14 Membership Research Report

The report showed that one key way that membership organisations are planning on supporting their growth over the next 12 months is by improving their data accuracy as well as their reporting and management systems.
In the report, respondents stated that:
- Currently (there is) no link-up between our web content management system (CMS) and our membership database, which can duplicate workload and cause data issues
- We want all data about members in one database
- We want increased targeted marketing, better website and integrated CRM
- We want to start using a professional membership management software tool to generate better reporting and further automate interaction with, and among, members.
These statements support our key message to “Get Closer To Your Members”. Successful membership organisations are driven by their members. But this can only happen when an institution has the insight and the tools to enable each of their teams to gain a central view of their member’s details, history, interests and activities.
Membership organisations wouldn’t exist without members. They are, without doubt, the drivers and instigators of change within any institution. But who are your members? What are their challenges? What are their expectations of being a member? This information is only available if you have fully integrated processes and systems in place to listen to your members, and to track their behaviour and activity 24/7 across multiple channels.
We’re pleased to see that this year’s report has confirmed that we are preaching the right message. With goals to focus on recruitment, engagement and retention, a lot of you are looking to grow your membership base significantly. Those that aren’t have an emphasis on retaining existing members and improving the level of value you can provide.
